BPMI Supplier Application Process

Dream big with us and support America’s nuclear-powered warfighters.

Becoming a supplier for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) is a thorough and rigorous process, often taking more than six months to complete—and for good reason. Operating in the demanding environment of nuclear propulsion requires your strict commitment to the highest standards of quality, security, and reliability for every component, from the largest reactor to the smallest microprocessor. The safety of our Sailors and the security of our nation depend on this unwavering dedication.

Once you are a member of the defense industrial base, your partnership with the NNPP and BPMI will open the doors to exclusive resources and opportunities that will help you innovate and shape the future of our nuclear fleet, as well as your business. Have dreams of scaling, optimizing, or innovating your business? We may be able to help.

Review the steps below to get started.

If you are an American company excited about becoming a U.S. government contractor or subcontractor, you’re in the right place! By becoming a Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program supplier within the defense industrial base, your component, material, or technology could help power and propel our country’s nuclear fleet.

To begin, simply fill out the brief contact form and upload a completed New Supplier Questionnaire using the links below. Your information will be delivered to our Industrial Base Business Office for review. You will receive confirmation upon the completion of this step.

1.  DOWNLOAD THE NEW SUPPLIER QUESTIONNAIRE

2.  FILL OUT OUR CONTACT FORM AND UPLOAD YOUR QUESTIONNAIRE

To ensure competitive advantage, security, and safety of constructing, maintaining, and decommissioning nuclear components aboard Navy vessels, we maintain a strict and thorough review process for the businesses that have components installed on nuclear ships. Our initial review will begin to match what your business offers to the current and future needs of the U.S. Navy.

If a match is identified based on your questionnaire, a BPMI contract specialist will reach out to you to schedule an introductory meeting. This meeting is an opportunity for both businesses to learn more about each other as well as an opportunity for you to learn about what it means to be a government subcontractor with BPMI (we have a more unique business model than most!).

If both sides agree that an opportunity exists, a BPMI technical lead will reach out to you to schedule a formal, in-depth evaluation of your business, technology, and/or component. We call this a Supplier Assessment. This step will be the most rigorous and time-consuming step to becoming a supplier, but we are here to help you navigate the process. Depending on complexity and priorities, assessments may take weeks to months.

  1. Register Your Business with Oracle Cloud
To keep documentation and communication seamless and secure, all of our suppliers utilize Oracle Cloud. Your one-time, online registration may be completed at your convenience (with the option to save your progress and finish later to complete your registration). Depending on your component, material, or technology, you may need information from multiple contacts within your company. Moving forward, this is also the system our suppliers use to conveniently submit proposals, manage orders, and monitor the status of invoice payments.

  2. Quality System Review
Suppliers within the NNPP are required to produce high-quality components or technology for the Navy. With no room for error, suppliers must have a formal quality system in place. You may be asked to provide your quality manual or equivalent for review. Again, our Sailors and nation are depending on the quality of our work.

  3. Cybersecurity Review
Information assurance is of utmost importance for our suppliers and their subcontractors. Adversaries work tirelessly to steal supplier intellectual property and other sensitive information that supports our maritime dominance. Suppliers must meet the minimum requirements of DFARS 252.204-7012, DFARS 252.204-7020, and soon, Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).

  4. Other Reviews
If additional information or an on-site assessment is deemed necessary, your BPMI lead will reach out to you to discuss additional requirements and schedule location visits.

  5. Completed Review
After you successfully complete and pass all required reviews for the Supplier Assessment, you will be approved to receive future Requests for Proposals (RFPs) in Oracle Cloud, provided that you meet a need for the NNPP. If you do not meet all of the Program's requirements, BPMI will be unable to work with your business, and you will be notified of this decision.

Congratulations! You are now approved to receive Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from BPMI and the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. As a member of the U.S. defense industrial base, the success and growth of your business could impact our national security. Your products and innovations could help to propel the Navy into a new era of shipbuilding and maintenance.

As your partner, we will continue to work with you to procure and deliver quality components on behalf of the NNPP. We are also here to support your growth and ability to serve the evolving needs of the U.S. Navy through exclusive funding, innovation resources, and networking.
