The equipment departments are responsible for coordinating the procurement of specific components from the "definition of need" phase through specification development, contract placement, design, fabrication, testing, delivery, installation, operation, repair, refurbishment, and eventual disposal at the end of its useful life. Our equipment departments include:
Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Department
Provides the electrical, electronic, and microprocessor-based equipment needed to operate, monitor, and control reactor plants. I&C leads the design, manufacturing, and delivery of I&C equipment, including the evaluation and application of emerging technologies, preparation of equipment specifications, technical support through the equipment's life cycle, and teaming with laboratories, shipyards, and suppliers.
Reactor Plant Heavy Equipment (RPHE) Department
Provides project lead for the design, manufacturing, testing, and delivery of equipment such as steam generators, pressurizers and pipes, and fittings. RPHE also provides field service to the shipyards to develop and test pump replacement tooling, and to ensure satisfactory equipment operation as well as maintenance.
Pump and Heat Transfer (PHT) Department
Provides various types and models of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, and heat exchangers, as well as technical services to ensure safe and reliable operation of pumps, steam generators and heat exchangers.
Reactor Servicing (RS) Department
Provides the means to refuel the Naval Nuclear Fleet by providing equipment engineering, design assurance, and field support, as well as the equipment used to refuel and service nuclear plants, including containers for movement and shipment of new and used fuel.
Valve and Auxiliary Equipment (VAE) Department
Provides the many primary system valves and a variety of auxiliary equipment used in the reactor plant.
