Technical Writer

Duties

Work closely with engineering personnel, write and edit technical manual manuscripts for mechanical and electrical equipment to appropriate specifications. Employ advancements in technology to produce interactive online technical manuals from SGML and XML. Employ creativity and ingenuity while interfacing with customers, contractors, engineers, and end users to improve existing systems, and recommend future process improvements. Provide software support and guidance in pursuing electronic publishing, Local Area Network (LAN), and intranet utilization projects.

Experience 

 

Zero to five years

Strong technical writing and publishing skills required. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work well with others. Technical writing experience within engineering, manufacturing, or the software industry desired. Experience with publishing applications and Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML)/ eXtensible Markup Language (XML) desired.

Degree

B.S./B.A. degree with concentration in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Information Technology, or other undergraduate degree.

Travel

Limited (less than 5%)

 U.S. citizenship required.
Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
